Evaluation

We work with children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder by a healthcare provider. Our BCBA will conduct an initial assessment including a review of the child’s records, a caregiver interview, and direct observation & testing, to understand the child’s current skills, and challenges. The direct testing will measure the child’s verbal milestones and evaluate any barriers that may hinder learning and language development.

Treatment Planning

After the assessment, our BCBA utilizes the collected information to create a customized treatment plan for the child tailored to their specific needs. We believe that the parents or primary caregivers have the child’s best interest in mind and are most involved in the child’s daily life. For that reason, we prioritize the family’s goals, concerns, and expectations with the child’s treatment. We only proceed with the treatment plan once the caregivers review and approve it.

Treatment by the Clinical Team

The next step involves teaching the child new skills and behaviors using the principles of ABA therapy. To help the individual with their specific needs, our clinical team uses instructional strategies, including a variety of techniques such as visual support, verbal cues, and prompting. We monitor the child’s progress regularly, collect data on the child’s skills and behavior patterns, and revise our treatment plan accordingly. We also ask the child’s caregivers to report on the child’s progress at home to ensure they are making progress toward their goals.

Systematic transitioning out of Therapy

As the child makes significant progress in the therapy and goals are achieved, our BCBA gradually reduces the amount of ABA therapy a child receives. Systematic transitioning out of ABA therapy is an important step as it allows the child to gradually adapt to the changes that will come when the frequency of therapy is reduced. Services can be gradually discontinued as the child achieves treatment goals and demonstrates progress in areas like academics, activities, and social interactions.

Early Intervention at our Center

The Early Intervention Program is a federally-funded specialized program designed to support infants and toddlers under 3 years of age with learning and developmental disabilities. Screenings by healthcare professionals of EI are conducted to identify developmental delays or disabilities in kids. In case of positive screening results, evaluations are done by a multidisciplinary team to create a tailored developmental plan, providing services like speech therapy, physical therapy, and occupational therapy based on the child and family’s needs.

While we are not a part of the Marlboro early intervention program, many of our children have participated in the Early Intervention program in the past. The families choose to pursue early intervention Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy at centers like ours for continued support and better intervention. Numerous parents express dissatisfaction with the EI program due to the limited hours and inadequate supervision provided by the qualified BCBAs. In our ABA services, we offer a more targeted and structured approach to teaching specific skills and behaviors to the child with autism, making us a trustable option for ABA therapy services by many families.
